COFFEE BELT, DO NOT MISS
Good day to all my readers, my name is Juan Carlos Calvo. I’m a very
open person that loves to communicate and talk with others. I currently
have a girlfriend that means the world to me and we usually do everything
together. Right now we’re both studying industrial engineering, but in
different universities. I also love meeting new people.
This blog is going to consist of every trip that I have taken. It’s
going to consist of a bunch of different memories of all of the places that I
have visited, including guides on how to get there and specifics on what to do
and see in all of these places. I love to eat, so that will be another major
part of this blog. All of the exotic foods that can be found in the many places
I’ve been to. Eating delicious food is one of the most important pleasures in
life. This time I will write about my visit to the coffee belt,
specifically to the coffee park.
During my last vacation from classes I had the opportunity to travel to
"The Coffee Park" with my girlfriend for a few days. Getting there
from Cali is very easy since it is so close, it all started around 5 am because
we wanted to catch the first bus to Armenia to enjoy the trip as long as
possible to the coffee belt, we went there by bus, as it was very cheap
around 45,000 COP, the ride is very quiet and you can see the beautiful
landscapes. The first place we went was "The Coffee Park" and was a
place of great beauty, but equally crowded by people. From the moment you
enter, you have an amazing view of the mountains and it is a moment when you
have to take a picture that you’ll remember forever, especially when you go to
the top of a lookout to take that picture and believe me, it was the right
decision. After that, we were wrapped in coffee culture; it was a museum that displayed
how the different generations cultivated coffee, a ritual and a sample of their
culture. Next began a journey of about 1.5 hours, in which could you look at
the biodiversity of this area of the country, it also shows that the area was
home to many Aboriginal cultures, each had their religious beliefs when making
their funerals, the burial was done depending on the hierarchy of the deceased.
At the end of
the walk we reached a mini-city where we had lunch because it was near noon, I cannot
remember the name of the restaurant, I just remember it was next to the church
and we would undoubtedly have lunch there again, if I remember correctly I had
lunch stew, a traditional dish from the western region of the country, but
later found that the park had a square meal of varied food for all types of
people.
The entire
park has many attractions assembled and is a thrill because it's something that
is not available in Cali, the only thing annoying were the long lines that had
to be made to enter these attractions. I regret not having gone first to these attractions;
if I had taken the cable instead of walking, I would have arrived much faster.
In general, there are plenty of decorations dedicated to the region with their
cultural practices about coffee. It is a typical small region which makes it
very nice and beautiful. No complaints with that part of the trip, it is really
worth visiting.
At the end of the day, we took a bus back to Cali and arrived late at
night. All in all, it was a great experience that I would definitely repeat,
and would certainly recommend to others.
